Hays Street
San Antonio, Texas
A full front-yard and side-yard landscape redesign organized around circulation, shade, and long-term structure. The design replaces underperforming lawn and foundation planting with a layered, climate-resilient garden that balances everyday family use with a calm, established feel.
Front Lawn
Entrance Garden
The front yard was reimagined as a defined garden rather than a continuous lawn. A curved gravel path creates a slower, more intentional approach to the house, while limestone boulders form an informal seating moment. Evergreen structure establishes year-round form, allowing seasonal planting to remain restrained rather than overworked.
Side Yard
Primary Pathway
The primary side-yard path connects parking, front entry, and backyard while preserving mature trees. Rather than forcing a straight run, the path shifts subtly to work around existing root zones. This creates a circulation route that feels architectural and deliberate, without compromising canopy health.
Side Yard
Enclave with Water Feature
Set slightly apart from the main circulation route, the garden enclave introduces a quieter moment within the landscape. Defined by evergreen structure, the space is designed to support a future water feature or container planting without requiring immediate installation. This allows the garden to mature naturally while preserving flexibility.
